Mimosa Mining saw a hat trick of victories across three industry competitions this year. These were the Chamber of Mines Jumbo Golf Tournament, the National Industrial Fire Control Association (NIFCA) 2024 National Firefighting Competitions, and the National Chamber of Mines Annual First Aid Competitions. Golf Tournament: Mimosa claimed victory for the first time in the Chamber of Mines Jumbo Golf tournament’s 50-year history. The competition was formidable with over 120 golfers from various mining houses, industry players and service providers. These included, Unki, ZIMPLATS, RIOZIM, Hwange Colliery Company, Freda Rebecca, Pan Africa Mining and Bravura. The 2024 edition was hosted by Kuvimba Mining House at Hillside Golf Club in Mutare. As this year’s champion, Mimosa will host the 2025 edition. The tournament is a much-anticipated annual meeting where industry networking, policy discussions and exchange of ideas take place. National Firefighting Competitions: The Mimosa Fire Team once again as they bested the 2024 NIFCA National Firefighting Competitions, held in Mutare. The team claimed the titles of Best Team Overall, Best Team in Squad Drills, Best Team in Hydrant Drills, and Best Commander. For the fifth time in seven years, Mimosa outperformed 17 rival teams, including three platinum mining competitors. National First Aid Competitions: Finally, at the 2024 Chamber of Mines National First Aid Competitions, Team Mimosa dominated again. Capturing the Best Team awards for both surface and underground categories, the team affirmed their expertise and skill in safety and emergency response. Individual awards included Best Captain Surface and Best Female First Aider. The event drew a diverse audience, including mining companies, local stakeholders, media outlets, and entertainers.
