Mimosa Mine convened hundreds of Mberengwa residents, key Environmental Management Agency (EMA) officials, and Mberengwa District Council members for a cleanup campaign on September 13th. Targeted areas were Mberengwa Business Centre, Neta Business Centre, and portions of the Zvishavane-Bulawayo highway, which are on the periphery of the mine.
By midday, the area was transformed into a cleaner, brighter space, demonstrating the pride the community holds for its environment. The campaign was graced by EMA officials and the Mberengwa District Administrator, who expressed their appreciation for Mimosa’s initiative. They also highlighted the significance of community involvement in environmental stewardship.
Prioritising safety, Mimosa conducted thorough risk assessments and provided all participants with personal protective equipment and necessary cleaning tools. A brief safety talk emphasised the importance of
sustainable waste management and a clean environment. The cleanup was a community affair demonstrating that, teamwork, and shared responsibility remain crucial in implementing sustainable waste management practices.
