Bryan Matingwina

Head Operations
Bryan has more than 19 years’ experience in the mining industry, having joined Mimosa mine in 2004 as a graduate trainee. He left Mimosa in 2006 and returned to ZIMASCO as a Maintenance Engineer at the Kwekwe smelter. Bryan rejoined Mimosa as Projects Engineer in 2008 and has risen through the ranks to the position of Head – Operations, responsible for Engineering, Mining, Processing, Stay in Business (SiB) Projects and ICT. Some of the positions he has held include, Head Engineering and Projects, Projects Manager, Cluster Manager Projects and Planning, Senior Manager Projects and Planning, Senior Manager Engineering and Projects.

Blessing Garamumhango

Head Services
Blessing Garamumhango has 19 years experience in the mining industry. He started his mining career in 2006 in Botswana, then joined Mimosa in 2011 as the Medical Services Manager, then Cluster Manager – Services, before assuming his current position as Head Services. His professional journey reflects a strong commitment to service excellence, operational efficiency, and employee wellbeing—key pillars that continue to shape the support infrastructure at Mimosa.

Blessing holds postgraduate qualifications in both Management and Occupational Health and Safety, underscoring his strategic approach to leadership in industrial environments. His expertise and leadership have been instrumental in aligning support services with broader organizational goals, particularly in the areas of health, safety, infrastructure, and sustainability.

Jean Nel

Chairman and Non-Executive Director
Jean has more than 20 years’ experience in mining and mining finance, including having served as the CEO of Aquarius Platinum from 2012 to 2016, at which time he led the successful disposal of Aquarius Platinum to Sibanye Gold Limited (now Sibanye-Stillwater Limited). Jean was CEO of the platinum division of SSW from 2016 to 2017. Jean serves as non-executive director on the boards of Northam Platinum Ltd. DRD Gold Ltd and Tongaat Hulett Ltd. Jean also co-owns and co-manages a number of property partnerships in South Africa, Namibia and England.

He qualified as a Chartered Accountant (South Africa), CA (SA) and is a CFA charter holder.

Fungai Makoni

Managing Director
Fungai has more than 18 years’ experience in the Mining Industry having joined ZIMASCO in 2002. He joined ZIMASCO as an Internal Audit Manager after completing his training with Deloitte and Touché. In 2005 he was appointed Finance Executive for Mimosa, and his role was combined with that of Company Secretary. He was subsequently appointed General Manager Finance and Administration in 2007, a position he held until his appointment to the position of Managing Director in 2013.

Fungai is an active board member of some of Zimbabwe’s leading companies.

Stephen Ndiyamba

General Manager and Executive Director

Stephen has more than 30 years’ experience in the mining industry having joined Wankie Colliery in 1990. He worked for several organisations before joining Mimosa in 2008 as a Plant Manager. He rose through the ranks and held various positions namely Plant Executive, Senior Manager Plant, Senior Manager – Growths Projects and Head – Growths Projects before being appointed General Manager in 2020. He sits on the boards of relevant Institutions of Higher Learning in Zimbabwe.

Cephas Chipare

Senior Manager Processing
Cephas has more than 27 years’ experience in the mining industry. He joined Zimbabwe Alloys Limited in 1995 and worked in a number of organisations before joining Mimosa in 2011 as Technical Superintendent. He has held the positions of Plant Superintendent, Plant Manager, Cluster Manager, and Acting Senior Manager. He was substantively appointed Senior Manager – Processing in January 2024.

Lloyd Shamu

Head Technical Services
Lloyd Shamu has worked in the mining industry since the early nineties when he joined Anglo American Corporation as a graduate trainee. He then worked in various process engineering roles. He has operated at various senior management roles in production, project management and in technical processing roles across different commodities within Southern Africa. Lloyd serves on a number of industry advisory boards of institutions of higher learning and is the current Zimbabwe branch chairperson for the Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.

Stephen Ndiyamba

Henry Jonker

Non-Executive Director
Henry Jonker is a seasoned mining industry professional with an impressive career spanning over 30 years. He began his journey as an Engineer in Training at Goldfields SA in 1986 and later became a Unit Manager at West Driefontein Gold Mine. He went on to hold several leadership roles at TWP Projects, including Managing Director of TWP Limpopo, before joining WorleyParsons as General Manager Metals and Minerals. In 2018, he became Director of Project Execution Mining at Wood, where he quickly rose to Vice President of Mining & Mineral for the EMEA region. Henry’s vast experience and dedication to excellence also led him to complete an Executive Management-focused Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Cape Town in 2015. In his current role as Senior Vice President of Projects for Southern Africa at Sibanye-Stillwater, Henry is focused on driving innovation and success in the mining industry.

Leon Phillip Bredenkamp

Non-Executive Director
Leon Bredenkamp has been with Implats for the past 24 years. He began his career at Implats as an Administrator Clerk and has worked his way up the ladder, moving to Junior Shaft Accountant, Shaft Accountant, Management Accountant and Finance Manager: Management Accounting Consolidation. He has held his current position – Executive: Group Management Accounting – since 2017.

Leon is a certified accountant with the Associates of Cost and Management Accountants. He has 20 years’ experience in Group management accounting, providing high-quality information to the executive committee and board members, while supporting businesses across South Africa and Zimbabwe.

He holds a B.Com Accounting from the University of Johannesburg, a Management Development Programme certification from UNISA and certificates in Mining taxation SAP BPC and Hyperion Financial management. Leon completed the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants examination in 2004.

Patrick Morutlwa

Non-Executive Director
Patrick Morutlwa joined Implats group as its Chief Operations Officer on 19 June 2023. He began his career at Anglo Platinum as a Learner Official. Patrick occupied several junior and senior positions within Anglo Platinum including the positions of Head: Integrated Community Economic Development, Senior General Manager of the Amandelbult Complex, General Manager of Siphumelele and Dishaba Mines. In addition, he was also intimately involved in the modernisation and mechanisation of the Amandelbult Mining Complex.

Patrick is a Mining Engineer and has 28 years’ experience in PGM hard rock mining, project management and operational turnarounds.

He holds a BTech Mining Engineering degree from the University of Johannesburg, an Advanced Management Development Programme certification from IESE Business School, University of Navarra, Spain, Management Development Programme certification from University of Stellenbosch, and Mine Managers Certificate of Competency. Patrick has also served as the Chairperson of the Northwest Tripartite Forum.

Peter Mtombeni

Head Services
Peter has worked in the mining industry in Zimbabwe for more than 30 years. He joined Hwange Colliery Company in 1992 and worked as an Industrial Relations Officer for four years. In 1996 he joined ZIMASCO’s Shurugwi Division as Human Resources Officer, before being promoted to the position of Industrial Relations Manager in 1998. In 2003, he was appointed to the position of Human Resources Manager for Mimosa, became General Manager – Human Resources in 2012 and has held the position of Head of Services within Mimosa from 2014 to date.

George Dondoredziva Mawere

Head Human Capital
George has over 28 years’ experience in the mining sector, having started his career as a Graduate Learner Personnel Officer at Zimbabwe Alloys Limited in 1995. He was promoted from the position of Human Resources Manager at Mimosa, which is now Head Human Capital, in line with industry best practice. In this position he is responsible for formulating and implementing strategies and policies that ensure the best human capital practices at Mimosa Mining Company.

Elizabeth Nerwande

Head Corporate Affairs
Elizabeth has more than 20 years of executive experience, starting when she was appointed Executive Director for the Consumer Council of Zimbabwe – an influential advocacy group for consumer rights. In 2004 She became CEO for Zimtrade, and represented Zimbabwe as head of Delegation for World Expo to Japan for 6 months as Commissioner General. She joined the mining industry in 2009 as a consultant to three mining houses, before joining Mimosa full time in 2011.

Brighton Daka

Head Mining
Brighton has more than 25 years’ experience in the Mining Industry having started his mining career at Falcon Mines in 1993. He transferred to Old Nic Mine in 1997 before joining Mimosa Mine in 1999 as Senior Overseer Miner and then Mine Captain in 2002. He moved to ZIMASCO where he went on to hold various positions before returning to Mimosa in 2012 as Technical Executive. In 2013 he was promoted to General Manager Mining and Technical Services and became Head Mining in 2016.

Edmore Tafirenyika

Head Finance & Administration
Edmore has more than 20 years’ experience in finance, administration, and audit in the mining industry, having joined ZIMASCO in 2007 as Group Accountant at Head Office. He joined Mimosa in 2013 as a Finance Manager and progressed to the position of Senior Manager Finance and Administration. He was promoted to the position of Head Finance and Administration, the position he currently holds. His responsibilities include oversight of the entire Mimosa finance and administration function. Prior to joining the mining industry, he served his articles with Deloitte from 2003. In addition to his Mimosa Board functions, Edmore serves on the boards of several other entities.
