Mimosa was crowned champions in two national competitions
In October 2023, the Mimosa firefighting team and mine rescue team demonstrated outstanding performance at the national competitions, both securing champion titles in their respective categories. This remarkable dual victory highlights the exceptional skill, preparedness, and teamwork exhibited by Mimosa's teams.
The National Industrial Fire Control Association competition featured sixteen teams, with Mimosa's mine’s fire team emerging as the overall winners. The team excelled in fire hydrant, fire extinguisher, and squad drills. The team garnered five awards, securing second place in the fire hydrant competition, first position in squad drills, first place in the instructor's category, best female fighter, and clinching the highest score overall.
These competitions play a crucial role in preventing and minimizing the impact of fires. By participating, the Zimbabwean fire industry aims to enhance its readiness for fire and rescue emergencies. During the event, Honourable Marian Chombo, the guest of honor, emphasized the importance of companies establishing well-trained and equipped internal firefighting teams. She underscored the significance of providing basic fire safety training to employees, enabling them to understand their roles and responsibilities during fire incidents. Honourable Chombo also highlighted the need for crew commanders to have a thorough understanding of emergency scenarios.
A total of thirteen mine rescue teams from across Zimbabwe participated in the Mine Rescue Association of Zimbabwe national competitions. Mimosa's mine rescue team excelled, receiving a total of five awards, including two team awards and three individual accolades, earning them the coveted title of "champion" for the 2023 competitions.
